New carb needed as the previous one packed up.
New brake lines to rear drums as bad corrosion occurred.
New (full) exhaust system needed.
Front seats had to be ripped up and welded back in as mounting brackets had come loose.
The XS is incredibly quick, especially when the twin choke kicks in at around 3500rpm. This is great fun to test out, but means more trips to the petrol station!
0-60mph is around 9 seconds (makes your mates very jealous!)
It's quicker than most cars of the same size (XR2's, Golfs, Si's, AX GT's).
Often the car under-steers when it is pushed into a hard corner, but overall the handling is superb.
Not being funny, but I currently own a Citroen AX GT and it has the same engine as the 205 XS, but it's about 100kg's lighter, so how do you beat them??
AX GT - 0-60 = 8.9
205 XS - 0-60 = 9.5.
ANYTIME!!
Sounds like a challenge to me.
Having owned both AX GT and 205XS, on the performance side of things the AX wins hands down, but on the subject of build quality then the pug has it!

Alright people I own a pug 205XS. I bought it about
2 months ago and I've done so much to it. its got a full stainless steel jan-speed system, 4 in oval can. twin webber 40's k&n bolt on air filter, its quick as Fu*k. I raced an AX-Gt and I was well over it. bit of advice to anyone who has got an XS GET WEBBER TWIN 40'S. don't try 45's you wil
just blow it. (remember its only a 1.4!) take it easy.
Having owned both an ax and an xs the ax might just
be a little bit quicker, but the only reason why an ax
driver is still driving the ax is because he hasn't yet
driven an xs, or he/she can't afford one!
