1993 Peugeot 205 Sceptre from UK and Ireland - Comments

"An economical, reliable, easy to maintain, fast car. How rare is that?"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Required new discs and pads straight away. More recently a small coolant leak has developed via the thermostat gasket. Nothing else so far.

General comments?

I was fortunate to come across this car in such good condition and with an almost perfect Peugeot service history.

The performance and economy are both very impressive and the car grips the road quite well too, with responsive and well weighted steering.

Finally, the cabin is a little dated and drab, but I think I can live with that because generally the car is as good as many modern, and more expensive cars I've driven.

I have just bought one of these cars thanks to the good review, and was shocked at the performance! It has got tinted windows as standard, handles like it's on rails thanks to the suspension setup, and does 0-60 in approximately 8 seconds (probably thanks to the almost straight through exhaust, it has only got a backbox!!) It beats any other 1.4s on the road and many 1.6 - 2.0's!! If you are thinking of buying one of these, I say go for it! I was lucky to fing an M reg 1.4i Sceptre 3 door with low mileage and FSH that had not been thrashed off eBay. I'm well inpressed!
