1990 Peugeot 205 XS review from UK and Ireland
"A vaule for many first hot hatch"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first got this car the brushes in the starter motor had to be replaced.
At a 100,000 miles I had to have a new clutch as it broke when I was driving along.
At a 120,000 miles I had to have a new drive-shaft, I believe this is a common problem on the 205.
General comments?
This car was excellent value for money it only cost me £900 and was worth every penny.
The handling was brilliant never lost grip once.
Fuel economy was average depending on how it was driven, this was mainly due to it's low gearing.
Performance was mind blowing. I put a K and N on mine and it would easily keep up with the 1.6 Gti.
And not forgetting to mention cheaper tax.
