A lot of split hoses which is very annoying.
Gets very hot around town.
Half leather is badly worn.
Had a lot more problems with the previous 8V engine.
This is my third car at only 17 :) Great car, very quick, 160bhp standard, goes off the clock (about 145mph), 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds. Not much on the road that can beat it, great for thrashing boy racers in their Novas and small engined turbos, lol.
Handling is better than the straight line speed, you'll find that not much can keep up round the twisties.
The 205 isn't really a boy racer car anymore, its definitely a classic, boy racers don't really like owning these anymore because they don't like getting their hands dirty, a 205 takes a lot of effort to keep running nicely. They look great as standard and shouldn't be lowered more than -40mm.
Why lower it at all? Front wheel drive handling doesn't get any better than a standard 205 GTI. Even Peugeot have never matched it with their later stuff.
I don't think you quite have your performance figures correct there, if it was that good, everyone would want one.
That performance figure is entirely feasible, my 205 mi16 can dip under 6 seconds to 60 with ease. My car is only mildly modified with Webber 45's and DTA ignition only management running around 190bhp at the flywheel. Remember they do only weigh just over 800kgs stock.

The performance of my mi16 is roughly the same, 60 in about 6ish and top speed I haven't really tried out, for a number of reasons. the car wasnt meant for it, and I value my license. my cars got HUGE disks all round and coilovers, but still I don't trust 145mph in it, not after a 325 BMW feeling of safety. the car is awesome though, and as so rightly stated above, they weigh next to nothing, so of course they are going to fly!! n e one got any info on them, please email to me at olihodgson@hotmail.com, reason being is I only bought one all done, didn't do it myself, so don't have a clue about it. all I know is it's a 1.9 gearbox and car with 1.9mi16 engine. chrz!!
Think the better reply would be...
3 cars at 17 and you're not a boy racer? :|
I have no idea what you've done to the other 2 cars, so I'm probably not to comment, but you must of alteast crashed one of thoughs, and blew the engine on the other, and to have a car of that power at 17... your going to crash if your bombing it.
Hi. I'm from sweden. I have a red 205Mi16. the only mods are open filter, 2" exhaust and no catalytst (In sweden they must be mounted) and a big 4" tailpipe. The car is amazing, and the engine just screams "more, more!"
As I often tries to find cars to race In my little town, many people nowadays don't have the balls to race me!
This concludes many many owners of bmw:s!

Hi there, posted above about my mi16 (olihodgson@hotmail.com) since that post, the mi16 rolled... not good, steering rack fell apart, drove up a hedge. I did take my mi16 to 145 after that post, so I know they do it! not too sure about 60 in 6secs now, think I was a little optimistic, though it did chew the asses of clio 172s. found out I had the BX 16v engine in mine, and had it tested as 180hp. was wild, but highly dangerous. just to add, I was just 18 when I had mine, and yeah it rolled, but not coz I'm a boy racer. thank you.
Oli oli oli, now you have wrecked 3cars going over 145mph... I dunno bout anyone else, but i'd guess if you're a young male who likes to race other cars that makes you a boy racer!!??
The 205 Mi16 is such an amazing car to drive it really is. Performance figures stated above are in the right ballpark, but it's not about 0-60 - just get behind the wheel of one and you'll be amazed how much your grin can stretch. Hit 4.5k rpm and it just explodes all the way to 7.2rpm.
I have a standard 205 mi16 and have no problems matching CTRs, Cooper S works, S3s, 172s, etc, etc. Make sure you have uprated brakes though, especially if life started as a 1.6 as you'll prob won't have have discs on rear.
Car without being stripped is about 920kg btw so power to weight ratio is about 174bhp per tonne - all that for between 1-2k, all I can saw is WOW.
But be careful, they can be death traps so watch out for LOO :)

Hello. can't really fault my mi16 other than it's tendancy to try and throw you off the road.. torque steer takes on a whole new meaning when you drive one of these cars!!
The 1.9 gti box is probably the best one for the job unless you're a top speed freak.. but I wouldn't reccomend taking a 205 over 150mph anyway unless you have spare pants and a death wish.
Recommended upgrads (from experience) if you're going to do the conversion properly (i.e. create a safeish final car) are obviously better brakes, strut braces, 309 gti rear beam, coilovers and some decent rubber.
Mine's currently 197bhp at the flywheel still on injectors... forced induction and a roll cage coming in the future :)
if you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty these are mega cars, mine eats m3's and standard cossies etc so for the money you really are laughing!
I am about to purchase my first 205 1.9 gti.
It has 1 year mot and runs very smooth.
Its on a g pl8 and I am paying £200 is that a good price.
I thought the 1.9 205 gti had 130bhp and a 0-60 time of 7.9 and topping out around 130.

I agree some people have overblown claims here,1.9 gti engine is 133bhp not 160 even the mi16 engine is only 150bhp in standard trim. and the 205 won't do 0-60 in 6 seconds not even close!
Agreed, I've got an Astra VXR and had a drag race with a 205 GTi, don't know which engine, but I completely left him for dead, it was a complete joke.
It's obvious, the VXR would leave it, but compare your VXR to the new S3; it would demolish your VXR. That Vauxhall badge would get smaller and smaller.
