1988 Peugeot 205 GT review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At about 75,000 miles the carbs became un-balanced and clogged up, this caused the engine to run very poorly until this was fixed. Also both drive shafts had to be replaced at the same time.
A leak in the boot was traced back to a micro-scopic nole in the spot weld at the bottom of the boot door.
The gear linkage that ran from the gear lever to the gear box dissintegrated which left me stuck in 4th gear in a busy town.
General comments?
All being said and done it has been very enjoyable driving this 205 GT. It has very good handling which does take some mastering especially in the wet.
The engine really does come to life over 3500 rpm.
Due to its gearing it's not very practical for motorway driving, but it is at its best when driving down A-Roads.
