The chassis had split right across from the drivers side, which needed urgent attention.
The clutch went just under a week before I was due to sell it.
I blew the radiator pipes by pushing it too hard.
For a 1.4, it's surprisingly quick. I have a 106 Quiksilver now, and that's not even close in terms of power.
The interior was obviously dated, but it is nearly 14 years old. Very well put together though...
Peugeot's are well known for providing eager, revvy engines and the 205 was no different. The power delivery wasn't very smooth, but it certainly went if you were overzealous with the gas pedal!
In short, it cost me quite a bit to fix as the previous owner didn't take much care of it... but it's a remarkable car. I went for the 106 afterwards, and that's been the icon of reliability!
Hello I have just recieved a peugeot-205-gr from my brother he said it is a very good car to drive well I don't know as I have not sat my test yet, but I would like to ask if you know a site were I can get a print out of the engine as it is in need of stripping down so as to be cleaned and fixed thanks.
I am currently on my second roland garros, my first being a cabriolet and my second being a hard top.
I have never had any problems with them apart from my clutch went so I had a sports clutch fitted.
They are very rev happy nippy cars that can easily race and win the likes of citreons vtr, rovers 1.6 tomcat and many things alike.
If you look after the car, it will look after you... its very tempting to get in one and race it all day long... i know because I did it and blew my engine so I have been searching for an original roland garros engine for 4 months and found one in france, I didn't want to travel that far so I put a mi16 engine in it on throttle bodies and never looked back. it has un-believable power and now beats the likes of subarus, r5 turbo, evo, tt, st's, the lot. it will be featured in a very well known magazine before christmas 2006 so keep your eyes open.
Thanx. oli.
