2003 Peugeot 206 cc review from UK and Ireland
"The best of both worlds, fun and yet still practical"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Not a thing so far.
General comments?
The 206c has had a mixed reputation so far, but the one we've got is a gem.
The complaints people have made, and my responses:
rattling interior trim: Ours doesn't rattle.
Dreadful driving position: I think it's fine, other than the pedals being close together, which I've noticed on lots of European cars.
Hopeless rear seats: Some people say it's physically impossible for a full grown adult to get in the back. My Dad is a Full Grown Adult and he's ridden in the back. Admittedly, it's only OK for short trips really, but most roadsters have no rear seats at all.
Noisy roof motors: True, but for 20 seconds at a time- who cares?! Between a choice of noisy motors and Stanley knifed canvas roof, I know which I prefer!
I think you've got to be careful what you compare this car to.
If you want a convertible with space for occasional passengers, security and noise proofing with the roof up, a sporty engine, fun drive, not too expensive and holds it's value well- then the cc is definitely worth a look. What other convertible has a metal roof, and how much does it cost?
If you want a practical 4 seater load-lugger, buy a mondeo.
Having said that we've just been camping in Wales, and managed to get all our kit in the cc no problem. We only had to put some of it on the back seats to give a demo of the roof. With the roof up the couple of hours on the motorway were as quiet as any 206, and the 2.0 16v engine made a mockery of a 1.6 model that really wanted to be the car in front.
There have been faults reported on cc's, but very few new models are fault free when they first come out. So far, none of the reported faults have manifested themselves on my cc...yet! Hopefully as ours is a later model, they won't either.
