1998 Peugeot 306 XSi 135BHP review from UK and Ireland

Front fog lights kept blowing (about 3 times) Unfortunately they're hard to reach so the dealer had to replace them each time.

All 4 doors rattle (not too impressed due to low mileage seeing as girlfriends BMW Compact is 2 years older with 20,000 more miles and not a rattle, but then this isn't a BMW!)

Air Conditioning pipe split (dealer replaced under warranty)

Fuel input line in engine had very marginal leak (again replaced under warranty)

Stereo has intermittent struggle with normality (volume just increases without warning occasionally)

Wind noise excessive.

A lot quicker than you would think. Struggles under 2,500-3,000 revs so normal hot hatches (VTR's and Golf GTI's) beat it away from lights and on initial acceleration, but get it above 3,000 revs and it just rockets and eats them for breakfast.

On the motorway it's absolutely excellent as it has a mountain of torque and just pulls and pulls. I've had an indicated 134mph out of it.

Handling is brilliant and you can just get the back end to nudge out nicely without drama.

Fuel economy OK - 270 to 300 miles out of a tank in normal driving.

Dents a bit too easily.

Heavy-ish clutch, but I suppose that's what you get with a sporty car.
