Drivers side electric window fell off its running rail, easy DIY fix.
Bulbs tend to blow behind 24hr clock, but easy to replace at 59p each.
Bodywork dents a bit easy so be careful.
The 1999 onwards 306 XS at 112 BHP may not go like the 137 XSi, but with a few cheap tweaks runs it damm close and is so much cheaper to insure + has all the same trim minus the leather interior.
My friend owns a black 2000 spec XSi, so we paid for a track day to see what they could do.
In a straight line to 90 he's was quicker, but nit by much so I was well chuffed.
With my tweaks - Viper inuction, new full exhaust system, Ecotek breath valve - the car pulled so damm close to he's up to 90.
Top speed managed on track was 133 which I could never have expected.
With modds car pulls a healthy 125bhp that a + 13bhp gain.
As for build well the cars dent easy and don't feel that strong, but for sheer ride and handling can't fault it, best of its class along with GTi and XSi, (which I have driven)
Over-all car a good one to get if you late teens or early 20's as you won't break the bank on insuranse.
I have owned a 306 XS and was not impressed at all by the power. I have since owned a CORSA sri and a SAXO vtr and both are quicker and feel better built. the only thing the pug might be able to compete on was handling.
The XS looks the same as the XSI and the GTI. I am more than pleased with it's performance, the car is nimble, very responsive and combined with the excellent fuel economy I can't fault it.
The saxo VTR is smaller and lighter so of course it will be faster, but then you get put into the chav street racer category whereas with an unmodified XS - you do not.
I've recently bought a phase 2 1.8 XS after owning a phase 1 1.6 XS for 3 years. The 1.6 has the same engine as the Saxo Vtr, and is a touch slower than the Citroen. The 1.8 is a more modern 16 valve unit and is a fair bit quicker than the old 1.6. All great little cars though. I was tempted by a saxo, but I'm 6'2" with size 12 feet so it wasn't really an option!
