1995 Peugeot 306 S16 review from Australia and New Zealand
"French, Elegant go kart"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Lower Ball joint (pin) snapped in half whilist I was driving at 60km/h. I really did not find this funny at all. There was not evidence of wear, it just split. Had I been driving faster I could have rolled the car. Due to this part breaking while the car was moving meant, the wheel broke away, damaging it's fender, pulling out the cv joint and totally damaging the drive shaft. Had the car been involved in a previous accident, I am not sure?
The coils above the spark plugs needed to be replaced. (not cheap)
General comments?
The car could be quicker, it does not feel like the power that is claimed by Peugeot, however the handling does make up for it and it will keep up with many cars through the hills. To get the best out of the engine, you really need to give it stick and keep the revs right up. The interior is very nice, with leather inserts and it looks much more elegant than some of the currnet chubbier models.
