Airbag Warning light was flashing intermittently- caused by a faulty connector to the Seat-belt tensioner.
Rear Wheel bearing needed replaced.
Cold start problems due to worn out heater plugs.
Front tires don't seem to last very long.
The car has had no serious or expensive faults and has never left me stranded.
Build quality is generally good compared to other french cars.
I felt the standard trim was very comfortable, but a bit 'old man' so I swapped in a half-leather interior from a 2000 model to improve things.
Performance is excellent and the turbo-charger gives the car acceleration that would embarrass plenty of 'Hot-hatchs'.
Economy is superb, it is the cheapest car to run of all that I have ever owned, it regularly returns over 550 miles on a full tank.
Ride and handling are probably the best in the class, it is a superb car for cornering and soft suspension eliminates road bumps without losing any edge.
The car has just completed a 1000-mile continental holiday with no complaints whatsoever. all passengers were carried in comfort and the car soldiered on and on and on. despite being hammered at 85-90mph most of the time on the French motorway it still returned an average 45mpg. Why bother with a 307?
I have owned a 98 306 D-Turbo S for one month now and have noticed that the airbag light flashes for around 5 minutes when the engine is started and then it remains solid thereafter. Has this happened to anybody else and if so what is the problem?
Otherwise, no complaints at this early stage.
With mine it happened after I swapped in leather seats from a crash damaged 306 as the seat-belt pre-tensioners had detonated when the said car crashed. no problem just swapped over my old ones from the old seats (disconnect battery first though) other than that it could be a loose wire or faulty airbag?? the french aren't the best electricians unfortunately!!!
