2000 Peugeot 306 GTi-6 review from UK and Ireland
"Great handling hot hatch"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Heat matrix went at 42,000 miles, poring white smoke into the cabin. Cost over £300 to fix at the dealer.
Drivers seat starting to show some wear.
During my 1st year of ownership, when stopping the revs would drop below idle & the engine would die. Peugeot reprogrammed the ECU, but that didn't solve it. Hasn't done it for the past 20,000 miles or so!
General comments?
An easy car to live with everyday & a joy to drive, not so easy to manoeuvre at low speed. Turning circle is abysmal, especially to the right.
Great power from the word "Go" & continues through all 6 gears, but really starts to come to life above 4,000 rpm.
Excellent handling. Slight under steer when pushing hard, but that can easily be solved with a little bit of lift-off over steer!
Doesn't tend to drink the petrol (approx 30-32 mpg), unless you want it to!
A great car for both handling & power, I will miss the fun we had together.
However, I won't miss the dealers!
