"The styling hide's a mean hot-hatch beast within"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Tracking needed doing as pulled to the left, repaced both front headlights as water seals were defective.

General comments?

On my fourth 306 - so far all have been very reliable cars and none had any major faults if at all. If your careful and choose wisely from the large number 2nd hand - then your be in for a fun ride. Gti-6 is a real dream if you can find a mint one, very fast 0-60, top speeds are off the clock, 6 speed gearbox, styling that modern enough not to look dated even up against the new hot hatch ranges. Interior build is solid enough and never had an issue on any of my 3 previous 306's (two XS's and one XSI). Exterior is thin so dents easy never rust's if looked after, be sure to jet wash under body + wheel arch area's once per year to clear out muck as so many over look area's you can't see when cleaning the pride and joy. Engine is bullet proof when looked after, only real issue is Cambelt - which needs changing every 35,000 miles with no longer than 4 years use of belt or it tends to snap before suggested 60,000 mile change. If you dont know when belt was chnged or just want to play it safe to avoid potential cambelt failure, then replace the following parts: Cam Belt, Tensioners, Timing Belt, Crank Pulley, Drive Belt, Roller for Drive Belt, Tension Roller for Drive Belt and Water pump. That lot should cost you £350 to £400 for parts + fitting - which will avoid a nasty £1500 engine rebuild if cambelt fails. So far I rate this above all other 306's in range + has a engine that has some serious power to play with. If you want a fast, affordable, fairly cheap to run and well respected hothatch then find yourself a GTi-6.

It's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Simply brilliant.
