2005 Peugeot 307 review from Saudi Arabia

"Below average"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The heat sensor malfunctioned at 6000Km and the car did not start so I had to pull it to the dealer who changed it with a new one, so far so good.

Break light doesn't function properly, I had to push the break pedal hard for the light to come on, needs calibration maybe, will check during the next service.

Computer at 25000km threw the following error messages, faulty gear box, oil pressure not sufficient, even though the oil level is perfect and the gearbox works well, the car does the service at the dealers' workshop every time and no where else.

Steering wheel started to wiggle slightly at speeds between 40km and 100km above that I guess the cars speed diminishes the feeling.

At 26000km the passenger side power window started to behave irregularly going down when you push the switch to pull up.

Sound system is very average, needed to boost it with an Amp and two more speakers.

General comments?

This car handles nicely when driven in a normal fashion from point to point, a true city car if you wish since its fuel consumption is not bad in my opinion and comfortable enough for a small family of 3 or maybe 4 persons.

Try overtaking another car even when you are driving it alone and then you will feel how awful and week the 1.6L petrol engine is, you need to push the gas pedal all the way and I swear coupling this engine with an automatic or semi-automatic transmission was a big mistake.

It lacks torque and launches heavily, the weight of the car keeps it from maneuvering easily, and over steering is a problem you will face with this car for sure since its front wheel driven and not enough power to pull its weight when making a fast turn.

If you choose to push it a bit hard just to feel if it could be sporty while shifting the semi-automatic gear yourself it will at a point when you decrees speed and almost come to a stop shut down, by that I mean the engine stops and will need to be restarted again which sometimes takes 3 or 4 attempts before it gets going again, I'm not sure if this problem has to do with the engine heat produced when normal a car is driven a bit harder than usual.

There is enough room in the back trunk being a hatchback, the seats are comfortable enough, tough not enough leg room at the back.

Over all opinion is that this car is below average, I had a VW golf 2.0 manual gear generation edition before I bought this one.

man, what was I thinking.
