2001 Peugeot 307 LX review from UK and Ireland
"A conservative, unexciting purchase"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Acceleration lag when pulling away. There is a noticeable delay between pressing the accelerator and the engine responding. Have been caught out by it. This is a severe problem that Peugeot ought to investigate.
Boot lock mechanism unreliable after a few weeks of use. Consequently affected central locking of car putting it at risk from theft.
Indicator stalk unreliable when indicating to turn right. Does not stay fixed in place. Peugeot unable to clarify if this is a design fault.
Trouble activating full beam lights. Have inadvertently dazzled drivers as a result.
Sunglasses compartment lid faulty. Never fixed by dealer despite promises. Can block rear view mirror if the lid should fall down.
General comments?
Despite two accidents (within the space of one year none of which were my fault I hasten to add!), the 307 has performed admirably.
The amount of space in this car is amazing. You can easily accommodate five adults with bags of shopping with ease.
The ride is a little too firm for my liking. The suspension is stiff which is more suited to sportier cars.
The adaptive power steering is superb. Parking has never been easier.
The interior is pleasant with light gray cloth trim although the black dashboard does spoil the effect.
Visibility through the windscreen is excellent. Would not want to think how much a replacement would cost as it is huge.
The engine is responsive once you get going, but I have misgivings about its ability in pulling away from a complete stop.
Bodywork is excellent, but interior trim is a little tacky - especially the fake wood trim.
