2002 Peugeot 307 Gentry review from Netherlands

"Feature loaded"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have had no serious problems with this car. The only things worth mentioning are:

The leather on the driver's seat seems to show more than average wear. Then again I did put 45000km on it within 11 months.

The well known problem of the gauges suddenly switching off has occured once (1).

General comments?

Generally I think this is a brilliant car for the price. It is equipped with practically every single option and feature which normally are reserved for cars in the executive (5 series, 9-5, E class) range.

It handles quite well. The ESP comes into its own on slippery roads. The only downside to the handling is caused by the somewhat excessive weight.

The performance is more than acceptable for a 2.0 Diesel engine. It is dynamic enough for passing maneuveres and calm enough for long steady highway driving.

I do not have an exact idea of the running costs since I have the car in operational lease. I do however expect them to be comparatively low.

Despite driving 45000km in 11 months the only visits to the garage involved the 10K 20K and 40K checkups plus an extra unexpected visit courtesy of some local junkie who found it fit to bust my window.

I usually fill up 55 litres per 720km. It is capable of much better mileage though. I have once as a matter of exercise put over 900 kilometers before having to fill it up.

I cannot comment on the standard audio setup since I have a custom audio setup in the car.

Overall this car certainly deserves my recommendation.
