2001 Peugeot 307 Rapier review from UK and Ireland
"Lovely car, but poor service from dealers, and unclear information"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When the car was ordered, we were told it had 6700 miles on the clock, but actually had 12000 miles upon arrival.
After driving the car for 8 days, could not get the hazard lights to work.
Could not get the indicator stick to click up properly.
Carpet on driver's side starting to come adrift.
Rusty nut on alloy covers.
Creaking sound coming from below the car, which became progressively worse over 6-8 days causing passengers/drivers to wince when going around corners etc.
Fuel cap cracked.
Scratch on windscreen.
General comments?
The dealer did not seem to see the large difference in miles as a problem and offered a very small reduction in our agreed price.
The dealer was very unsympathetic to our problems and we actually got more help from another dealer as to the explanation of some of these problems which was apparently fairly common in the 2001 models.
In particular, we were told that the creaking sound, due to the anti-roll bar needing repositioning, was also common to some 2001 models, but cannot find other similar cases. Dealer service on this point was particularly awful.
Car is very spacious however, and drives well and economical for engine size.
