Audio speakers blown.
Wipers (front) faulty.
I had a rental 307 for a few weeks recently, which only had 6.5k miles on the clock...
This must be the most dreadful car I HAVE EVER driven or experienced!
Visibility is terrible.
136 HDI engine surprisingly gutless!
The worst gear change ever- it felt like pulling a sloppy rubber stick, 2 metres through thick mud between selections.
Ill conceived dash layout with cheap looking fake
aluminium inserts that fool no one.
Cheap creaky plastic interior materials used.
Unforgivable driving position, with limited available adjustment of drivers seat & wheel.
Pathetic sounding audio providing only annoying distorted rattles from the door bins!
Rubbish ergonomics and driving environment.
The whole car felt weak and poorly built, evidence when opening and shutting the doors etc.
Over soft non supportive seats that are fine when you first land in them.. then give you terrible back ache after a 50 mile drive.
Questionable, but debatable looks, in my opinion, ugly!!...
VW, I forgive you and apologise. My 3 year old Golf GT- TDI is driving heaven compared to this latest competitor from Peugeot!!!
This website is for cars owners to review their vehicles, not for people renting cars to comment on those. That being said, I suspect that your comments about the 307 aren't that far from the truth.
Looks like the 307 haven't changed much from 2002! At least they seemed to fix the flywheel problem!
307 is definitely a joke a of a car. How did it win car of year? I'm an disappointed owner also. Very weak engine, and suspension and very noisy, cheap interior, cut corners, should I go on? BACK TO VW AND I DO APOLOGIZE WHAT A FOOL I WAS; NEVER AGAIN.

So it was slow. If you get a 1.4 engine, what do you expect? I know some of the Japanese manufacturers are getting higher output, but that's with a turbo. This is a big car for a 1.4.
I have the 2.0 307 and I couldn't be happier with the power. Up hills, if I can keep above about 60km/h around corners I can stick it into 4th and still have power for acceleration. I get 10 l/100k in city driving, about 6.5 on flat open roads.
The audio problem is pretty simple - replace the stock speaker drivers with some Peerless drivers and you're sorted.
My only complaint? The engine has more lag than other fuel injected cars I've driven.
The 2.0 HDi has a lovely sleek gearbox, and the seats are comfortable mile after mile after mile... And furthermore, the ergonomics of the car are brilliant!! That's one of the reasons I bought another, they have thought of everything, little touches of technology or otherwise, that you just wouldn't think of...
