Front caliper renewal, rear brake pipes corroded, rear-wash-wipe motor failure, boot leak, drinks far too much water without seeming to have a leak, heater unit failure (still can't fix, have to remove ash-tray and pull out electric chocky block - can not sort this out).
Bought from my old man, very low mileage for its age. Problems occurred from car not moving for nine months. However, once it had a major service (thanks to my brother-in-law) and run daily, it's a first time starter, economical, good on both town and motorway roads, and it doesn't rust to any great deal - my first car and I'm more than happy with it. Also, due to age, there are plenty scrap ones around for parts.
I too bought the same model from a pensioner who had it from new and serviced at the dealer he bought it from. Very cheap to owing to its dull looks but no rust, although it was never garaged, throttle steer available to complement the excellent handling.
It only sinned once. A complete brake failure in traffic in Bolonga. Apart from that, top value for money.
I have a 309 gr to (1988)
it was a family car that never went faster than 120 km/h
with 9 years of age it was stopped in the garage for more tha 1 year.
The car was doomed to scrap with a problem after another
but I needed a car when I took my license and no one rolled the old 309 so I got it for me. after some miserable 3 months the car improved and now it's a first starter that went to up as 170 km/h.at full 3rd gear it goes at 120 km/h
i already rolled it in snow and it never let me down
my only "but", is the consumption...
If I go easy makes some 7,5/100
but I go rough with him (I usually do), I already did some 15/100
never the less it never failed me and i'll keep it as long as I can.
