1995 Peugeot 405 STi review from Estonia

"Nice handling, cheap to fix, classy old-fashioned"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Front suspension serviced twice during 3 years.

Clutch replaced.

Brake disks- replaced once,

brake pads all round replaced 3 times, rear brake lines replaced twice, braking force regulator replaced.

Rear shocks replaced. Rear axle pads replaced.

Head gasket, belts, filters replaced.

Cabin heating vent. electronic module replaced.

Door and boot locks replaced.

Head and rear lamps replaced with tuning parts.

Fog lights replaced. Window washer rubberlines replaced.

Oil changes, tires, etc.

+

Water leaks to boot. Passenger door central locking is dead. All door rubber seals need to be replaced...

But no major and expensive problems appeared so far.

General comments?

This car was bought occasionaly, cheap from 1-hand user.

It was in good overall condition with original 130K,

official services and some small problems needed to be fixed, like clutch (car was used by women, you know),

heating vent worked only at highest speed (electronic module was replaced for ~50eur, seems to be common bug on Pugs), some bulbs needed to be replaced and seat heating not working (too expencive to fix, left as is).

I thought it would be 2-3 month daily driver, until

buying another vehicle (we wanted an estate), but left in the family for about 4 years for now. This car realy

gave me interest for french cars. Its Pininfarina designed body is from 1980s, so it is kind of vintage,

almost young-timer feeling for me driving 405. Its kind of classy and old-styled vehicle nice to drive (i really like how its handles thanks to rear torsions) but also it is enough comfortable for every day use as a family car.
