1995 Peugeot 405 GLX review from UK and Ireland
"The GLX TD was a fast reliable work horse"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Handbrake cables to the rear wheels - outer case split (replaced twice at 85k & 128k).
Oil filler pipe split at 128k.
Rocker box oil leak, progressive from 90k.
General comments?
I owned my GLX TD for three and a half years doing 52,000 miles, a total of 130,800 miles.
While the fuel economy was excellent, 50 MPG at 80+ MPH, the cost of main dealer servicing was expensive especially as a service was required every 6,000 miles.
There were no major mechanical failures, wear & tear failures were non-existent due to regular servicing.
Body work was excellent with no rust, the only body fault being worn hinge pins on the driver's door.
