1995 Peugeot 405 GLX review from UK and Ireland
"A small yellow sour tasting fruit, often sliced and served with Martini"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The front fog lights have never worked and are too expensive to replace.
Three new tyres. The wheel brace bent the first time I had to use it
The exhaust front pipe blew and as this is connected to the Catalytic converter I had to have a new one of those too. £200.
The relay to the fuel pump has been replaced.
The key fob alarm control is temperamental. Sometimes it works from a few feet away, sometimes only when the key is touching the sensor. I have actually driven it with the headlights flashing ambulance like for a distance of 5 miles before I was able to turn the alarm off.
The alarm is not connected to the horn resulting in a 'silent alarm' situation, allowing it to be driven away as described above!
Not sure that the air conditioning is working as it should.
The wing mirror has been replaced.
The wiper arms both need replacing.
All this in 4 months of ownership.
General comments?
When it goes, it goes well, but its just too temperamental.
Its comfortable, well equipped, quick and very roomy.
I have discovered that the likelihood of breakdown is directly proportional to the amount of toys one has to play with.
There is nowhere to store cassettes.
