"Over rated unrefined unreliable expensive joke of a car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Catalytic converter failed at 76,000 miles.
Fuel Injectors failed at 80,000 miles.
Injection idle controller failed at 87,000 miles, 92,000 miles 101,000 miles.
Flywheel distorted and worn clutch replaced 89,000 miles.
Brake servo and brake compensator failed 89,000 miles.
Factory alarm and central locking failed at 90,000 miles.
Electric sunroof motor failed at 87,000 miles.
Dashboard instrumentation failure at 95,000 miles.
Front shock absorbers worn out at 80,000 miles.
General comments?
This car is unbelievably badly made, such that many electrical items no longer work.
The engine is old fashioned, noisy, unrefined, slow, temperamental, expensive to mend and has aged very badly. The engine management, and ignition system is overly complex and despite numerous hours with main dealers and specialists (with huge bills resulting) it still misfires, does not idle etc.
The car is reasonably comfortable to travel in, (and to sit in and wait for the AA to arrive in) although the car handles badly due to the overly heavy 2.0l engine making it under-steer. This also contributes to the quick wearing of the tyres.
