1991 Peugeot 405 Mi16 review from North America
"Fantastic"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
All kinds off electrical problems. Replaced the computer for the fan, replaced the computer in the glove box dep.(top), it regulates the inside lighting. It was flashing even if the doors were closed. Replaced the fan for heating because it was at maximum speed.
Replaced front suspension, bearings, disc, tie rods, stabilisor bushing etc..
Replaced antenna, alternator, waterpump, timing belt, exhaust, complete original is recommended. Hand brake cables and that's it.
General comments?
Very pleasant car. The car has to be revved very high to get the best of it. I think the 405 needs more care then any other Peugeot. It's very fragile, the interior door panel is very poor quality. Besides that I love it.
I do all mechanical work myself, you have to when you own a Peugeot. It handles very well, very nice interior, ABS very good in Winter. Brakes absolutely perfect, one of the best seats and you feel special driving it.
