1990 Peugeot 405 gld review from UK and Ireland
"Superb value for money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Loose battery positive terminal caused complete ignition failure few turns with a 10mm spanner to tighten it and the car was perfect and that's the only time the car has ever failed to start in all weather.
Plastic attachment for clutch cable at pedal snapped, horrible job to do, but once fixed the car was running and clutch operation perfect.
General comments?
This car is a diesel high mileage and has never badly let me down. i travel all over uk with it. regular service is key to success. bit rattly and vibration on the inside when running, but comfortable and lots of room for an estate car, very handy to move bulky items, this old g reg just keeps on running and I will keep going with it until the engine or body dies, but just mot it 2 brake pipes and track rod end £100 all in superb old motor without a doubt I have no regrets in purchasing this car its used daily and gives 50-55mpg uses bit oil now though dundee to oxford took half pint oil, but no water to be expected with an old high mileage diesel, can still do 90mph, but rattles and vibrates a bit, funny when you overtake a man in a new car and you see there faces when the old puggy flies by ha ha ha.
