2000 Peugeot 406 SV plus Factory Leather Pack review from Greece
"Sure it has class, in its (D' segment cars) class!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Happily, nothing went wrong until now, it runs just perfect.
It's quite amazing, but in almost three years of ownership,
I hadn't any kind of problems with that car.
I had just to replace the necessary parts at the periodic reviews.
General comments?
Starting the essay, I must say before this one, I had a lot of cars.
None of them was Peugeot, not even French one.
It had the initial free service at 10.000KM (just oil change and various bolts and nuts tightening,
warranty's 1st check).
Now at 30.000KM, again oil change plus various fluid filters. Next service is at 60.000KM.
It has excellent fuel consumption, despite its net weight 1.300 kg and size, 461cm end to end.
Consumptions are:
6,3-7,6 L/100KM on highway (130-160km/h cruise speed).
7,6-9,6 L/100KM on highway (160-190km/h cruise speed).
7,5-9,5 L/100KM in city traffic (18km/h average).
9,5-11 L/100KM in very heavy city traffic (8km/h average).
This car is quick enough, even in the city heavy traffic.
Now about the so called famous Peugeot handling and driving.
It moves and handles on any road condition with accurate steps, like a prime ballerina dancer performs.
It knows where the toes are pointing and there it goes. Sharp or smooth cornering, YOU decide!!
Always neutral driving behavior, nothing unexpected or shocking. It moves like on rails (as trains do).
Probably is the multi-link (pathetic rear wheel steering changing axis, a kind of varying wheel geometry)
on rear suspension and a difference of 2cm, between front and rear, wheel to wheel, axis span.
THIS!! driving experience, is not easy to be meet in cars other than that.
It's a joy to be sitting in it (all around leather) and a masterpiece to drive it in town.
But its real temptation is on the highway..there... Oh Gee!!
Hear nothing, except of the excellent factory build stereo (very well known brand).
Even on very high speed highways (speed=100miles+), (speed=160km+) up to 220km/h,
there is absence of disturbing noises. A good touring short & long distance car.
Average touring speed should be 160-200 km/h. Nothing to concern of, except of highway patrol radars.
The safety feeling, i have felt in this car, cannot be described. It is really a drivers car!
As for the traveling conditions, the digital climatic A/C, and the French suspension will take care of you.
Just pin point your destination and arrive there, like in a fresh shaved condition.
No nerves no sweat, no need changing my suit, not even the shirt!!
I'm always feeling like a fresh cut flower.
This car worth every euro of the money, I had pay for it because:
It's Very fast.
It's Pleasant to drive.
It's Safe not in words, but in reality.
It's a Beauty to look at.
It's VERY comfortable (the famous French comfort).
It's Extremely Reliable 'till now.
It has prove great built quality(no squeaks or creaks).
I sure Love my Peugeot 406! Am so pleased, that I would change it (probably) only for the new 407.
