I had to get the air conditioning bled as it stopped working. That was covered. Apart from that nothing has gone wrong.
I have had seven Volvo's of different types, ending up with the 740 estate. I got the 406 estate as a part leased car.
I had a caravan when I first got the car... (a 16 foot one)...the Peugeot was excellent at towing.
The space inside is excellent, even compared to the Volvo.
It is comfortable and easy to drive.
The diesel turns in near 50 mpg which makes it cheap to run.
The rain sensor on the wipers is excellent and the radio/CD controls on the driving stalk are very useful and safe to operate.
I have to give my leased car back and am looking at the possibility of buying another one, even though I have heard that a new model is due out...
I heard that the new model you're mentioning is the 407 and it is planned to come out on late 2003 or early 2004.
I bought a 406 estate from big car supermarket in Exeter only 9 months ago and it's been nothing, but trouble. NEVER AGAIN.
Peugeot 406 Rapier HDI - nearly 100000 on the clock, but starting to get a load of problems.
To mention some:-
Rear tracking out -wearing out tyres in 10000miles. Wear on inside. £150 bill.
Radiator leaking new one needed- £300 bill.
Now lost all power can't get above 70mph on the motorway and need to change into 4th gear at the slightest incline and the speed drops to 60mph or less.
Nowhere near as reliable as the previous 405.
