General comments?
This is regarding the major electrical fault I had on the 406 GTX.
After returning it to the main dealer, they knew straight away what was causing the problem. It is a common fault with the newer shape 406, the rear near side light unit can leak in water which leads to the multi plex wiring shorting out causing the problem with all this dash board controls / lights going haywire. And if you have a multi changer CD in the boot behind the light unit, this, as in my case can also get damaged!
I must say though, my main dealer which is Renwicks of Exeter, have bent over back wards to help, and whilst the car was in with them I asked them to replace a broken trim on the front of side door, (I was going to pay cash, £30.65), but they replaced it and did not even charge me for it!
The lamp unit has now been changed for an updated version under warranty, and the CD changer has been sent for repair / replacement.
I hope this helps anyone who is unfortunate to have the same problem.
