1999 Peugeot 406 SR review from UK and Ireland
"A good solid dependable car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine gearbox mounting worn out required replacing.
Lumpy idle when warmed up, popping from exhaust, two separate Peugeot dealers could not find any fault. Car runs fine and passed MOT test so lived with it.
General comments?
A fine solid car that soaks up the miles well.
Very good grip, road holding and handling in general.
Engine not very powerful especially at lower revs, but overall acceptable.
Not a great town car, but comes into its own on the open road and fast twisty B roads.
Only 25 - 30mpg around town, but will return up to 40mpg on open road driving.
SR spec is basic compared to my 95 Laguna which had more creature comforts.
