"Fast car that grips well with big wheels, once modified mpg is very poor!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Due to over stressed crankshaft components a full engine rebuild was necessary after 3 months of use, but this was due to engine tuning. faulty speedometer that tends to switch itself off. main sleeve bearing for gear selector faulty due to uprated gear box ratio. Generally a great car to modify!!!

General comments?

I tuned this car up to around 320 bhp with the standard 1.8 engine block. I fitted a HKS stage 2 turbo onto the block with uprated seated injectors. Fitted an uprated fuel pump and swirl pool to the car along with high pressure feul injector lining. All this and then a mongoose full stainless steel exhaust de-cat and a K&N power 57i induction kit with extended cold air feed. Chassis changes included uprated koni suspension springs and struts. Big 17's and that's it!!!

You modify the 406 to an inch of making it a race car, then complain that it breaks?

A 406 is designed to operate to specification when left in its factory standard state.

If stuff starts breaking or not working when you tinker with it, it's a sign to leave it the heck alone.

You can't go tuning it and flinging bits and bobs into it and expect it to last.
