"Huge, cheap, economic and low quality mini-van"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The front train was all loose.

General comments?

I just bought this car on may 27 2005.

As soon as I took it home I felt something wrong with the front train. I ask for an appointment to have it checked by a different dealer (according to Peugeot this is OK). They found that the whole front train was loose, a mistake from the factory (that obviously no quality control was carried out).

The car is really big. The engine is low-powered, but it also has low fuel consumption. On the city I get around 13KM/l. On highway I get 15KM/l at 110KM/h. Just great for the use I bought it for.

As of a design critic, it has lots of storage compartments, but too few between the two front seats.

The back seats are really easy to fold.

I'm just hoping that there are no further quality problems with this car.

Due to the problem with the front train I wouldn't recommend it, since the chance of dying in an accident in a highway due to this poor quality control seemed to big to me.

Update:

- At 5500Km it started to make a loud noise when rpm go under 1500 and the gas pedal is fully pressed.

- At 6500Km the "engine" amber light went on. After having it checked at a dealer, they told me it the computer reported a start problem, but only once. They will only start any repair after a second problem or a recurrent problem.

- At 9700Km I have the first service. Everything seems to work fine now.

The front train was not "tight" (I don't know how to express this in english, sorry). They tighten the screws (sort of speak) to fix it.

More updates two years later.

- The engine problem ligth kept coming on. Every time I took it to the service they reset the computer to turn it off stating that it was an "intermitent" error. Finally, after the second year warranty ended and the ligth went back on, I was told that I needed to replace the "lambda" sensor and it cost U$S:250.

- Later on the car started making a lot of noise when idle, I was told that I needed to replace the exhaust pipe, and that I also have one of the engine mount points broken and it would take two days to fix since the need to remove the front transmision. It cost me another U$S:300.

- After the later repair, the front transimison (the part that makes the front wheel move) started making the typical noise this part makes when it is about to broke down. It only makes it when I turn left, so it seems that on the last repair they broke the left fron transmission. I told them this and they say that this is not the case, that this is just a new noise that have no problem whatsoever. I'm sure that in less than 10000Km I will have to replace this part.

- Later on while on vacations the engine fan started makinga big noise when turned on using the air conditioning. Also when I running (idle ergine or not) the car makes a noise in the front train when turning from letf to ringth or the other way around, it feels like the part where the strouts attach to the car is loose. I took it to another official Peugeot service and they told me that the fan was OK and the strouts have no problem. Later on, the engine cooling fan felt (the nut that fixes the fan to the fan-engine felt of and the engine overspined so it broke down).

- I now have to wait one full month to get the replacement part!! And this is a car that is built in Argentina!! One month to get a simple part for a local made car seems to mucho to me...

Now I'm on the process of selling this problematic car and replacing it with a used Corolla or a new Honda Fit (Jazz in Europe). I really like the new Yaris, but is not sold in Argentina.

Finally I sold my Partner. In the later days, at 92000 km the transmission on the left front wheel started to make a noise when I turn left. Luckily I sold it before I had to replace it.
