Several alternator failures..$20
changeout...easy job.
Mechanical voltage regulator
unreliable. Replaced with solid
state unit.
Timing chain failed at 120,000 due
to plugged oil drip line above
crankshaft sprocket. $40 and a
Saturday morning took care of that.
A little old lady car... that I was
fortunate to buy.
The powerful, reliable 360 engine
pulled a trailer loaded with a
bulldozer easily.
Comfortable, roomy, easy to service.
I have a real soft spot for these cars! My dad used to own a cab company and I think he had at least 25 Furys between 1969 and 1977. It was the first car I have ever driven. My dad's bad driving habits have busted many a timing chain and transmission in these cars and as a child I would be dad's mechanic's assistant-and literally grew up under the hood of a Fury! They are real battletanks and I'd love to get my hands on a decent one for a decent price. As I remember the 318 V8 engines weren't horribly bad on gas.
These are absolutely beautiful cars... lots of room, great handling good on gas and as reliable as the sun. my gran fury wagon has so many miles on it I've lost count...34 years and going strong!
