1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE review from North America

"The van is a revolving debt, and my tolerance is getting low"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

My transmission went out at 30,190 miles. I bought a rebuilt transmission with another 30,000 mile warranty, for $1896.00. Ouch! I had only been driving the van for 3 months! My dealer, nor the manufacturer would help with this problem in anyway.

Shortly after the transmission went out, I began to have a lot of "service engine soon" warnings. When I took it in for service, the problem could not be established. I was told it could be a sensor, but not to worry, it was most likely just a glitch.

At 68,000 miles exactly, my vans air conditioner compressor and blower had to be replaced to a tune of $860.00! I was very fortunate that I had not let the problem continue. I was told by my garage, that the compressor could have dropped out and provided me with many other repairs and much, much more cost!

General comments?

This is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned.

It has plenty of room for my kids and my "stuff".

I am very pleased with the handling of the vehicle on the road. I am for the first time able to drive without fear in the snow.

My only complaints are that a van so well liked, which has "fit" so many consumers needs satisfactorily, should be made so shabbily, as to make the purchaser sorry they ever spent their money on such a worthless investment. I understand that a warranty is a warranty, but the manufacturer and the dealer should give a warranty a "grace period", due to the fact that so many of these models are constantly going "bad" just after the warranty expires.
