"Extremely cheap and reliable"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Head Gasket blew shortly after letting a friend drive it, who probably wringed the crap out of the poor engine.

Window is hard to roll up. I don't mind.

Loose shifter linkage, fixed with some tie wire.

Most doors are hard to open. Especially the driver's door from the inside, I have to punch it to open.

Carburetor gets gunked up easily, but it's probably my fault for never changing the fuel filter.

Bad gas mileage for what it is.

Doesn't like potholes.

General comments?

This car is a tank. Since the head gasket, I have put about 20 dollars into the car and it's been running like a top. I make it a point to not invest any money into this car, and it just keeps running.

Left me stranded once. Turns out there was dirt in the carb. All I did was take the carb apart and blow compressed air through all the passages and threw it back together, the car has ran like new ever since.

Not very comfortable, especially for long rides.

Carburetor is finicky at times, I wish I bought an injected version.

Does not leak an ounce of oil.

Handles nicely actually, but doesn't handle large imperfections in the road well. Sounds like a shotgun when the car hits a pothole.

Absolute best money spent by a college student who doesn't care what kind of car he/she is seen in.

I am the proud owner of a 1987 Plymouth Horizon. Besides the lack of power this is one cheap ride. I paid $30 for mine 2 years ago. I have since done 45,000 miles. Although I did break down once due to a broken Alternator Belt. It sure is no looker, the bodywork has gaping rust holes. As such it does get me stopped by the Police Often, particularly when they view the duck tape holding the Tailgate and Passenger door closed. However I do not care as not having a car payment leaves me with lots more Beer Money. Great transportation.
