1990 Plymouth Laser review from North America
"A great, reliable, first car for a first time driver!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Had to replace master and slave cylinder at 120,000 miles.
Valve guide seals bad when I got the car. Leaks oil like no other.
Had to replace fuel pump assembly at 133,000 miles. ($700)
Had to replace ball joint to pass inspections at 133,000 miles.
Trunk struts are bad.
Only one head light goes down.
Passenger window rolls up fine until it gets to the top, then it pops out of track.
Had to replace the thermostat. (Which was cake about 5 bucks and 5 minutes of time)
General comments?
I have no general complaints about this car. Since I've had this car I put over 20,000 miles on it in less than a year. With as much as I drive it and how old it is I'm surprised that's all that went wrong. You might be thinking this car is junk. But for what it's worth I got this car at 17 years old.
So far only two major things went wrong with it. The fuel pump assembly was a bit much, but the master and slave didn't cost over $200.
It shifts amazingly and takes corners like a dream.
The back seat isn't very roomy, unless you're a girl then it's not that big of a deal.
Overall it's very reliable and if you're a busy body like me, this car is perfect considering they last to over 200,000 miles.
