1995 Plymouth Neon Highlines from North America - Comments

"After all parts was changed, the vehicle could run good, I wished I never bought that vehicle."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Almost everything!

1) Engine leaked oil since I bought the car, and it never stopped, I didn't fix it because it caused too much $800, the car was worth $3000 at that time. The good thing is you don't have to change oil regularly, all you have to do is to add some when it needed.

2) The water pump and timing belt had to be changed at 173000 KM.

3) The fuel pump had to be changed at 181000 KM.

4) The "Check Engine" light had to stay on for every 8 months, but it would off automatically after couple of months.

5) The rotor was broken around 168000 KM.

6) The shocks in the back I replaced twice in two years.

7) The exhaust doesn't work well since I bought the car, I never passed a single emission test.

8) The compressor of Air conditioner was broken around 191000 KM.

General comments?

The acceleration is nuts, I got all kinds of vehicles almost kissed in my back when the traffic light turns green. Every tank of gasoline (around 35L), I could run 260 KM in winter time on local traffic. I figured that's abnormal.

The vehicle was dead on the street for 5 or 6 times in the first year I owned it. The problems were: Battery, water pump&timing belt, rotor, fuel pump.

The good thing is it doesn't have any problems yet since 200000 KM except oil-leaking still.

The sound system is good, I installed a CD player, and I enjoyed very much.

Man you got a lemon. I thought mine was bad. I just put more money into the car than its private seller value. The bad thing it won't start when warm.

Wow man we have 2 1995 Dodge/Plymouth Neon's and they run like a dream... our Plymouth has over 225,000 miles on it with the original clutch and we haven't put that much money on it at all and with our Dodge its have had a lot of work done to it, but that's because the mechanic that we were taking it to was not telling the truth and such.

November 2005.

I own a 1995 Plymouth Neon Sport Coupe. It was purchased in the fall of 1999. I have had many problems with it. I would never recomnend buying this vehicle to anyone else. Let me list some of the problems I have had

1) Head gasket replaced at my cost

2) Air conditioner leaking-charged up a few times still

does not work now.

3) Trunk lets in water

4) Cruise control does not work

5) Major electrical problem- Was fixed a couple years ago, but has just started happening again. All of my instrument gages go crazy, seat belt light goes on and off each time with a nice ding sound as I am driving along the highway... Last time my radio was also effected (turned on and off and all radio and time settings erased... so far that hasn't happened this time (yet)

6) Car stalls in cold weather (usually in rush hour traffic)

7) Left and right signal lever does not disengage by itself once the turn has been made. I have to manually do it every time.

There are probably more problems that I haven't come across yet, or are about to happen, but I feel better having complained about the above!
