1991 Plymouth Sundance review from North America

Rides rough.

The seatbelt light stays on, even though we're always buckled up.

The air conditioning could use a recharge.

We were really not expecting a lot out of this car. We have driven many Chrysler vehicles; Aries, and those terrible Acclaims, even those junk Horizons, and we had a Daytona. All of those cars gave us nothing but a bad reputation.

An old lady who lived up the block was moving into a nursing home sold me this Sundance with only 30,000 miles for only $500. 6 years later it now has 130,000 miles. After putting a total 100,000 miles on it, all we had to replace were the brakes.

For the last 2 years this has just been my wife's car, because I now have a company car, but she does not take care of it. She has just had the first oil change done in 2 years after driving 50,000 miles. However she always made sure there was plenty of oil.

We do not like the performance. It is underpowered, low to the ground and to be honest it doesn't even handle that great.

However this has been the best Chrysler vehicle we ever owned. This was well manufactured. It's affordable, well made, but bad performance, just like all the other Chrysler's.

I must say that I was shocked how reliable this car has been. We personally know somebody who's a mechanic, and he is also shocked how reliable this car has been. He said these cars are known for bad gaskets, motors, and tranny, and these cars are best known for leaks, but none of that has never happened to us. If it ever does, we will just junk it, but at the mean time it's still going strong.

Also the radio and speakers are still in great shape, but the air conditioner needs a recharge.

We got the clue that this was the first, last, and only reliable Chrysler model ever made. Since the mid-90's Chrysler really took it upon themselves and made much worse junk, like those Intrepids, Neons, Rams, Stratus, you name it.

If we ever have one problem with this car, we are not going to play around. We will just buy a new car. We have the money.
