1990 Plymouth Voyager review from North America

"Worth every penny we spent!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

In all the years we have owned this van, very little has gone wrong with it.

We have replaced so far the timing chain (1994), alternator (1998), radiator (1999), and the fuel pump (1999).

Everything else is is in fine working order.

This poor van has not been well taken care of by us. Infrequent oil changes and maybe 4 tune-ups since we've owned it, yet she still is a trooper!

Some days when you're accelerating, it will just sort of take a breather, and not accelerate for 3 seconds or so. I had the transmission inspected, they said it was fine. It only seems to happen on warmer days.

This van has been in 3 accidents and fared well in them all. Once a semi clipped the left rear fender on the expressway, it spun around, but didn't flip. Another time I backed into a car that had parked at the end of the driveway (it left paint on the van, and completely collapsed the left rear 1/4 panel of the car). The most recent accident I rear ended some people who thought green meant "go then suddenly STOP" and left no visible damage on the van, but some scratches on their import.

It is currently running on only 3 cylinders due to corrosion in one of the holes where the spark plug goes and we weren't able to screw the plug all the way in.

This car has started EVERY time except when the fuel pump went.

The sliding door doesn't open.

The driver side window crank is stripped.

The passenger side door has been a nuisance with getting out of alignment (hanging too low). We fixed it once, and now just leave it and ignore the "door ajar" light.

General comments?

All in all, we couldn't have asked for anything more with this van.

I love it and all of its "quirks" to pieces and I dread the day we lay it to rest.

It was worth every penny of what we paid!
