1989 Pontiac 6000 LE review from North America
"Night mare, literally!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Many, many things went wrong! : (
Automatic transmission went bad, would not shift from second gear, and eventually would not shift into first or reverse. Had to tow it to the shop. Spent around 3 weeks waiting for another transmission, which had a price of around 400 $ for a student. It was a used Buick gearbox.
Of course Alternator.
Of course fuel pump.
Steering wheel was loose, took a big effort to fix.
Mechanically, engine did not have problems, but accessories completely failed. The car had me sitting on the side of the road nearly a dozen times. Every week something was going wrong with it.
Ignition switch locked up with the engine running. Turn signal lights did not work, relay had to be replaced, bulb sockets rewired.
Radio only picked up 3 radio stations.
Rear window leacked water inside.
Temperature senson did not work, temperature gage became useless.
General comments?
Even though I loved it, since it was my first car, it brought way too many problems. Perhaps previous owner did not take care of it.
