1990 Pontiac 6000 LE review from North America
"This is a great all around midsized car, that packs some heat under the hood"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The valve cover gaskets started to leak some oil, but are very easy to replace on this car.
The body has started to rust.
Other than that, I have had no major problems with the car.
General comments?
I have had my 6000 for six years now, and I could drive it for another 6 years.
The body has started to rust do to Nebraska winters, but I was able to save my car. Nothing I couldn't grind out and replace with Bondo.
Mechanically this is the greatest car that I have owned.
The 3.1 L engine concealed within this unsuspecting car will take 70% of the cars on the road.
It jumps of the line and powers on through the gears.
Might I add that Pontiac decided to use the speedometer from the earlier 4 cylinder model, which I can attest to the cars capability of higher than the 105 mph posted on it.
The car handles great, I can take my hands off of the wheel and drive for miles if the road is strait enough.
It has much stiffer than most suspension which allows the car to corner nicely.
It handles in snow like dry pavement.
One of the greatest things is the stock sound system. I have out powered many Hondas with after market systems.
I have 166,000 miles on mine, but it will run for another 100,000 miles.
This is a great all around mid-sized car, that packs some heat under the hood.
There are not a lot of options on the car. There are no power windows or other things, which keeps the car light.
In fact there are only two gauges on the dash: The speedometer and the gas gauge.
The simplicity of the car is why I favor it so much. It is a 90's version of a 60's muscle car, with a little
less power than those of the 60's.
