1991 Pontiac 6000 LE review from North America
"Plain Jane looker, surprisingly good performance in a family sedan"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced the battery after the first month of ownership.
Annoying squeaks on less than perfect roads (expected on a ten-year-old car with high miles!)
Pulley replaced.
Brakes mushy and lock-up easily.
General comments?
Considering that I was driving a semi-sports car prior to this one (the Probe was totalled and the 6000 was an inexpensive quick-buy), I cannot complain about this car's handling. In fact the Pontiac has better take-off from a stop.
Because the car is basically unchanged since 1983, parts are readily available and rather inexpensive. Although the interior looks cheap, the materials have actually held up better than my newer model Probe had. In fact, the car looks brand new inside. The only negative really, is that I miss the fuel efficiency of the Probe (30 mpg overall) compared to my 6000 (22 mpg overall).
The factory stereo system is better than the upgrade system I used to have.
