2001 Pontiac Aztek awd GT from North America

Summary:

I am not a repeat buyer for this one

Faults:

I have had the dealer try to fix the rear hatch five times, only to have no luck. I still have to press the release at least three times before it opens, then sometimes even lift on the hatch to help it.

I have had a intermittent roaring noise comming from the rear end for the last 3000 miles, though the dealership cannot make it duplicate. Neither can work on it under the extended service warranty, without first hearing it or seeing it broken.

The car has been very hard on tires, I cannot seem to keep the frontend alignment straight.

General Comments:

I would not purchase the extended warranty, If you have to have the vehicle serviced from Sunrise Pontiac in Memphis Tn, It will cost you at least 200.00 every visit even with a zero (0) deductible.

The car is far better than the Service I have received from the Dealership.

I have had the same problem with the rear hatch - each time I took it to the dealership to attempt to have it fixed, they could not duplicate the problem.

2001 Pontiac Aztek GT 3.4 V6 from North America

Summary:

Most versatile vehicle on the planet!

Faults:

No mechanical problems whatsoever.

General Comments:

We switched to Mobil 1 first oil change, this car has been great! Goes anywhere in the snow, comfortable, roomy, tight turning circle for it's size. Beautiful and unique style, not just another "cookie cutter" box everyone else is selling. We love it!

2001 Pontiac Aztek 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Don't judge a book by its cover!

Faults:

Two days after purchasing the car, the driver's side low beam headlamp blew. The dealership fixed this for free for me.

50,000 miles and front brakes needed to be replaced, but I think that's normal; they were the originals.

Driver side window occasionally has problems closing. It closes if I push on the button a few times. Most days it's fine, though.

General Comments:

The shape of the car is highly unusual, and until this year I'd sworn never to buy one because of the way it looked. The saying goes "Don't judge a book by its cover" though, and the same holds true for the Aztek. One test drive in it and my mind had been changed. I have a few kids to tote around on a regular basis, and they all fit wonderfully in my 'Tek. There's so much room inside, it's wonderful.

The seats are incredibly comfortable, and are great if you need to drive long distances regularly. There is plenty of leg and head room, and everything is within easy reach of the driver.

The cargo area is enormous. And if it's not big enough, the back seats very easily pop out to add in the extra space, and back in again just as easily. I used it to tote around some 4x8 sheets of cement board about a week after I bought it. Plus, the cargo nets that come with the car are perfect for making compartments to hold things.

Unfortunately, it is a bit of a gas guzzler, and with the large tank, I find myself having almost doubled my weekly gas cost.

If you're considering buying an Aztek, I'd recommend you buy a used one. The new ones are worth the cost, but a used one is just as good and at less than half the cost of new.

2001 Pontiac Aztek 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

It is the second best car I've bought

Faults:

The air bag light came on so I had it checked and it was a faulty side air bag. I was 3 weeks past the warranty, but the dealership replaced it for me free.

The check engine light came on a few times, but the oil, oil filter, etc had all been taken care of. We took it in to the dealership and it was just a faulty switch.

General Comments:

The car is a very unique shape, but I love the way it looks and handles.

I find it very easy to drive and maneuver through traffic.

I have always had a problem parallel parking, but this car is very simple to park.

It has a good turning radius.
