I have a 2001 Pontiac Aztek. My temperature gauge goes all the way to hot; the hot coolant light comes on the heater, won't get hot when it does this, but the engine isn't hot and the radiator isn't overheating. We changed the thermostat and the water pump, and it still does the same thing. Anybody have an idea of what could be wrong?
I bought my 2004 Aztek new in late '04. I have now had for 5 years and have 79K miles on it. I can honestly say it has been a very good vehicle with a few exceptions. My biggest complaint is the front wheel bearings and outer tie-rods. I replaced them at 49K miles and now need to replace them again at 79K. I just replaced the original tires this past summer after 75K miles. The tires actually had tread left on them, but the sidewalls looked dry and cracked. I have a problem with the rear hatch release also, but don't find it a huge inconvenience. The trans shifter does occasionally (1-2 a year?) lock up and is corrected by shutting off the engine and restarting. I am pretty satisfied overall.
