"Best Car I've ever owned"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator replaced twice once at 150,000 and at 190,000.
Starter replaced about 200,000.
Battery replaced at 180,000 and 261,000.
GMs can have touchy electrical systems
It takes time to diagnose starting
problems.
Brake lines and gas lines rusted near rear at 240,000. No garage, outside car rust is difficult problem.
Body tries to develop rust, I Bondo and paint problem spots.
Struts replaced at 170,000.
Sunroof leaks due to rust.
Steering rack leaks fluid.
Replaced Catalytic Converter 257,000.
General comments?
Despite problems, I love this car.
The 3800 engine is quick, powerful and reliable.
The transmission is also reliable with an added cooler.
I'm an Ohioan and this car has been to Chicago, Atlanta, Alabama, Niagara Falls, Toronto and the Upper Part of Michigan (St St Marie). If gas were not expensive now, I would drive it to Northern California!!
Seats are comfortable, air conditioning works, ride is quiet and smooth.
At 263,000 its in its hooptie(older car) years, but I love it, cherish it and I think this engine will run forever. Most of its automotive peers parked at the junkyard miles and years ago.
