1995 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI review from North America
"Bravo Pontiac!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Some small plastic pieces inside the car like the visor bracket on the driver side broke and was replaced for $11.00 from GM dealer, and I did replace the electric antennae for $115.00(GM dealer) because the cable broke and it wouldn't retract all the way down. The rear courtesy lamp broke off or was picked off by a six year old kid and the whole unit had to be replaced which cost me 89.00 from GM dealership. Plastic breaking, I think it's just due to age of car plus car was purchased as a used. I have not had any mechanical problems since I've owned the car. Just needs maintenance to keep it running great. Most recent, the rear passenger electric window quit working. Haven't had it looked at yet. Most things just minor and nothing to do with mechanical performance or reliability. This car is crazy! It just runs and runs even after the collision.
General comments?
Overall this car has been great. It was involved in a collision the first month I had it. Since, it is now classified as a rebuilt, but you'd never know it from it's looks and perfomance. This car handles well and takes off to leave others in its class behind at the stop lights, it passes, overtakes on your command or should I say foot. It corners well and is fairly quick for being a 4 door sedan. Don't be fooled by it's four door sedan looks (mmm... though it looks quite sporty with its little rear spoiler, and body molding, oh yeah, throw on a black bra and your set).
While it's appears to be a mild mannered family car to some, I would say that within it's 3800 V-6 supercharged heart, lurks a caged animal waiting to satisfy your inner speed demon. Yes, Pontiac makes a beautiful attempt to strike a balance between luxury, power and performance. Plus for satisfying the pocket book of even the most hardest core Scrooge, yes,to it's credit, it gets decent gas mileage. I have not had any mechanical problems other than the fender bender.
From the moment you slide into those luxurious leather bucket seats, you're instantly wrapped in luxury and transformed into a serious road warrior. If one desires functionality as well as luxury and power, the Bonneville SSEI comes equipped with just about everything to stir your road warrior soul. Indeed, it has made my travels more comfortable yet can get me from point A to B fairly quick.
As you can tell, I am in love with my Pontiacs, and as the saying goes, love tends to be blind because I own a 1967 Catalina as well and it continues to run and run as well.
