Headlight motor went after 110,000.
Wiper motor died at 115,000.
Awesome car, fun to drive wicked handeling. Really fast with a few minor motor and transmition upgrades. Compared to my 93 vette the fiero has way better handeling more comfortable cockpit and almost as fast.
"Compared to my 93 vette the fiero has way better handeling more comfortable cockpit and almost as fast" Indeed it was and this was widely rumored as the reason behind GM's unexpected cancellation of the Fiero. A GT with a 5 speed was very nearly as fast in a 1/4 mile for example, and handled almost the same as GM's baby, the Corvette. Must have looked embarrassing to the bigwigs, the lowly, unloved Fiero running almost shoulder to shoulder with the Vette while costing thousands of dollars less.
Being an owner of both a vette and fiero and an avid enthusiast of both I can tell you the fiero isn't quite as close to the performance levels of the vette. in the late 70's, gm was toying with the idea of a mid engine vette. the fiero was a spin off of that concept. there were many different engine combos including a turbo, but was deemed to fast for general production. there is too much info on that to list, but I know the fiero is a fun car... often called a poor mans porsche, but the vette has it way outclassed. but don't get me wrong, I've had 2 gt's and love them both... i just wish they would have come with a little more grunt under the rear deck lid!!
I have an 88 Fiero. It's a fun car that is unique in that it's an American mid-engine vehicle with a space frame and composite body panels. Fieros are real "sleepers" due to the fact that many of these vehicles have been updated with a variety modern engines from Ecotecs, to Northstars, to 3.8 Supercharged, to small blocks. Likewise, interiors and suspensions have also been upgraded. Although stock in appearance, my car has a 3.4 L engine from a 95 Camaro. It's a quick, great handling car, and I never worry about seeing myself coming and going.
