1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula review from North America
"Greatest car ever produced that won't kill your bank account"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The previous owner kept a meticulous maintenance history. Since I have had it, there have been no problems.
Shortly after the original owner purchased it in 88 it had a faulty headlight motor, replaced under warranty.
In 2001 the suspension was replaced with 88 Stock setup.
In 2002 the interior was upgraded to leather with MRMikes leather seats for Fieros. Also replaced the muffler with a performance high-flow muffler.
The oil has been changed every 2000 miles.
It is in amazing shape and I cannot believe it is a 19 year old vehicle. It looks and performs like it was made in the last three years.
General comments?
I was a kid when this car was originally produced, my parents bought one, and I was hooked on it. Ever since I wanted a Pontiac Fiero. Since that time I have purchased two, a 1986 4 banger to drive around in, and the 1988 formula to pamper and drive on nice days.
I am 6'4" tall, and I still fit comfortably in the car.
The interior is beautiful, and the 5 spd manual has so much torque you have to try not to spin the tires at a start.
The silver paint still looks as good as if it came off the assembly line.
This car is a major head turner, every time I drive it I get compliments and attention.
Best gas mileage for performance I have ever seen I get 28-30 highway miles, but I can still pass anyone on a whim, and tear up the asphault.
GM should never have terminated this production.
