Nothing during the time I owned it.
I replaced the Firestone Firehawks with Goodyear Eagles because the original owner didn't rotate them and they were very noisy.
It should've been a V8.
The 6 was adequate, but nothing special.
This was a pretty basic model. cloth interior, 5spd. a/c, stereo.
The styling while it looked good at the time was very dated. The previous generation Firebirds and Camaros have stood the test of time better.
The suspension was archiac. Potholes sent the rear of the vehicle hopping to the side.
The air conditioning was very good, ice cold!
Not a practical vehicle, but it was fun at the time.
It was very reliable during the time that I owned it.
I understand why GM no longer makes the Camaro/Firebird. Cutting corners and building them cheaply, while typical
for GM, did in two once promising and proud name plates.
Can you imagine that at one time you could get one with a 4 cylinder engine??!! Absurd!
GM is having a bit of a tough time right now competing in the sporty car market. Its GTO is a sales flop. The Pontiac G6 is not a sporty car. (All flash-no dash) As long as they are building mediocre vehicles, this won't improve.
Hang in there. Yeah the GTO is an imposter that probably won't be around for long in its current edition, given its dismal sales figures, but the new Pontiac Solstice is due to arrive next fall--and starting at under $20K!
How good will it be?
I hope it's not a 21st century Fiero!
