Strut mounts gone out twice and wind sounds coming from back passenger doors.
I love this car even though it had the few problems I listed it has been reliable and I love it.
Coming from a 4 cylinder car to the 6 cylinder I will never go back. This car going up hills does well and long distance traveling this car does well on gas.
In the city driving around with a lead foot on the other hand you watch the gas gage drop quick, but I love this car and I am thinking of getting the new G6 when I am done paying for this one.
Congrats on the Grand Am. My 2001 SE-1 has performed flawlessly (ZERO problems of any kind) for over 62,000 miles now. I love it. As for the V-6, my SE-1 has the old "Quad 4" which is a very torquey and super-responsive twin-cam 4. I have found it to be almost as powerful as the V-6 (though the later "EcoTech" 4 is much wimpier). The Quad 4's would definitely eat the 4-cylinder Escort alive.
My other car is a 2007 Mustang 4.0 and in all honesty I really enjoy driving my Grand Am better. It rides much smoother, is more responsive, and gets better mileage.
