1999 Pontiac Grand Am review from North America
"It still looks and feels good with new tires"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had to replace the intake manifold gasket. The oil was running into the anti-freeze and the overflow was leaking. It was very sticky and smelled. At first we thought the overflow for anti-freeze was filled too much. Then there was another and bigger puddle on the garage floor the next day. I drove it about 60 miles one day and decided to stop at Car-X on the way home. They told me I was lucky. Otherwise, I might have to buy a new engine, which would be costly. So I left it there immediately and they knew of the problem with the Pontiac 1999 GT. They put on a new and better gasket for me, and showed me the old one versus the new one. However, it cost me about $800.00. I guess I was lucky because I had to have it done right away. I needed that car to take my husband to surgery the following week. They were great and tried to get the work done so I could have the car right away.
Now the serpentine car belt was just replaced, too. But now there is a noise from that area. I had to pay for it to be done, and now I wonder what they will say when I take it back to another place where the belt was replaced. Does anyone know how much they should charge me? I am a woman and I don't want them to take advantage of me if they think they can pull the wool over my eyes.
Thanks.
General comments?
I like my car, but I can't read the orange dash in the daytime.
